My dad and I thought It would be a good idea to leave the Clarence river, and cross the bar at Iluka/Yamba as their was very little swell. We had a very good outcome from doing so. Yamba is a top spot and the clarence river is one of my favourite fishing spots in the world, so peaceful and full of fish! Have a go off the breakwall with some livies. Also there are heaps of big sandbanks to chuck placcies around at high tide, browns rocks is another good spot, further away up the river. Dad had been to Yamba before in the 50s, so he knew what to expect. I immediately fell in love with the place, the breakwall, the lighthouse, the fantastic main beach. The best part was that on the way into town on the first day, we had to cross a number of small channels, all of which had people fishing from the approaches, with floats!
